Ideating future beyond imagination at Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 Grand Finale
With an aim to understand diverse perspectives and approaches toward scenario building/problem solving from some of the brilliant minds of the country, Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 marked a glorious end to its two-month journey. From motivated students to the inquisitive jury, the competition kept the participants and the audience glued to the screens. To bring you the best highlights of the competition, here is a post-event wrap up of Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 Grand Finale!
A platform open to both B-School and engineering students, Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 witnessed a whopping 35,632 registrations and 9,43,927 reach. Inviting students to ideate the future, without a shadow of a doubt, this competition was a fantastic way to challenge yourself, validate your skills and apply your knowledge to projects outside the classroom.
The curtains of the grand finale drew open with an introduction to Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 on a fresh morning of January 14, 2021. The talent acquisition and D&I lead then addressed the audience to kickstart the proceedings of the day which was followed by a welcome note by the CHRO. The last round of the final presentation finally got off the ground with presentations from the Engineering track proceeded by the Business track. The solutions proposed by the teams and questions posed by the jury were so intriguing that the time flew fast. It cannot be gainsaid that the teams funneled down through the strategically framed stages of the competition, led to the crème de la crème of the participants.
Gruelling stages to bring out the best of talent
Framed into seven rounds, Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 gave an opportunity to the students to get a peek into the world of Hero and be a part of it, by working on Hero's real business challenges.
The framework of the competition is as follows:
- Round 1: Online treasure hunt
- Round 2: Quiz
- Round 3: Idea elevator pitch submission
- Round 4: Virtual presentation submission
- Round 5: Virtual presentation
- Round 6: Virtual mentorship period
- Round 7: Virtual grand finale
After solving the mystery and deducing the final key to the treasure hunt, only 8068 teams were shortlisted for the 30-minute online quiz. Only 983 teams then made it to the next round of Idea elevator pitch submission. The ideate elevator pitch problem revolved around 5 key statements:
- Electric mobility
- Application and data for e-vehicles
- Merchandising
- Hero Customer App
- Sustainability
60 teams successfully dodged the bullet and were able to impress the decision-makers with their 1-slider PPTs along with 60-90 seconds video. These shortlisted teams then submitted and presented their solutions virtually to the Senior Management of Hero MotoCorp Limited. Top 10 National Finalists, 5 teams per track, then moved ahead for mentorship and the grand finale.
The incredibly versed jurors
Segmented into two tracks, the grand finale of Hero Campus Challenge Season 6 hosted two sets of the jury for each track. The judge’s table for the Engineering track was shared by Prof. Harvinder Singh from IMT Ghaziabad; Mr. Samit Dash, Senior General Manager, SS≻ Mr. Georg Dobler (TCG), Platform Lead EV; and Dr. Sarabjot Singh Anand from BML Munjal University.
The competition jury for the Business track also comprised of 4 members - Mr. Sanajy Gujral, Senior General Manager, CIT; Mr. Avinash Joshi, Senior General Manager, Project Engg.; Mr. Ashish Misra, Senior General Manager, Finance; and Prof. Divender Singh, BML Munjal University. Students tried their best to distinguish themselves with the most feasible and practical solutions amongst the other competitors in front of judges with expertise across a range of departments relevant to the pitch problems.
Meet the heroes of tomorrow
Complementing the implementable and practical ideas of the national finalists of both the tracks, Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO, Head of HR and CSR, Hero MotoCorp, and Mr. Michael Clarke, CHRO and COO, Hero MotoCorp headed the facilitation ceremony.
In the Engineering track, Team Crusaders from IIT Madras and Team Arcane from VNIT Nagpur raised the trophy of Winners and Runners up of Hero Campus Challenge season 6.
In the Business track, Team Astromech from NMIMS Mumbai and Team EndGame from DIME, IIT Kanpur hit the jackpot and won the title of Winners and Runners up respectively for their perfect performance.
Apart from the cash prize, the winners and runners-up of both the tracks bagged PPIs from Hero MotoCorp. Digital participation certificates were also awarded to appreciate the efforts of everyone who attempted the first round - Online Assessment! All in all, Hero Campus Challenge season 6 saw fantastic participation of teams across premier B-Schools and Engineering colleges, an esteemed jury, and a wonderful ambiance. We congratulate the mentors and the students for their diligent efforts in ideating the future with their first-class ideas!
