IIM Calcutta placements 2021 conclude with 520 offers for 467 students
IIM Calcutta recently concluded its placements for the MBA flagship program, 2021. The entire placement process was conducted virtually keeping into consideration the coronavirus pandemic situation. The process was conducted in 3 clusters and witnessed the participation of 467 students who received more than 520 offers.
Major highlights of IIM Calcutta placements 2021
These are some key point to be noted from this year’s final placements at IIM Calcutta:
- A total of 172 firms participated in IIM Calcutta placements 2021
- The MBA class of 2021 recorded 100% placements
- The average salary rose to INR 29 LPA
- The median salary (the range at what most of the students in the college secured placement) rose to INR 27 LPA
- As is the case with most top B-Schools of the country, the consulting sector was the top recruiter at 32% with 149 students opting for jobs in it
- The top recruiters in the consulting domain were Accenture Strategy and The Boston Consulting Group
- The new recruiters in the consulting domain were Kepler-Cannon and Arthur D. Little
- 19% of the total offers were made by top Investment Banking, Asset Management, Private Equity & Venture Capital firms in which 90 students got selected. The top recruiters in these domains were Goldman Sachs and Bank of America
- The total percentage of General Management and Marketing roles reduced to 15% this year. Prominent companies that hired candidates in these roles were Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble, ITC, Vedanta, Adani Group, and Reliance India Ltd. The new recruiters were Boehringer Ingelheim and Xiaomi
- Software services & E-commerce firms hired in large numbers for Product management and fintech roles constituting 24% of the total offers made. Some of them were Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, and Paytm
There were several other recruiters from varied sectors such as manufacturing, power, services, and government firms.
Abhishek Goel, a professor and head of placement committee at the school said, “It was a tall order to get so many offers in the season while keeping the provision for multiple offers for a student. The placements at IIM Calcutta are about opportunities. The students stepped up to the challenge and the outcome is an incredible feat”.
IIM Calcutta Director Anju Seth said, “Achieving 100 percent placements in an unprecedented time such as this is a true testament to the value of the IIM Calcutta experience and I thank the recruiters for their trust. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our students, placement team, faculty, officers, and staff who have worked diligently to maximize the learning benefits to our students in the continuing COVID circumstances."
She further said, “I would like to congratulate the Placement Chair and Committee for their dedicated efforts to create new processes and efficiently conduct all processes virtually. All of us at IIM Calcutta wish the outgoing batch the very best for their new professional roles and encourage them to continue to be resilient and ready for change”.
