Indian Atal Innovation Rankings 2021 ranks IIM- Kozhikode as the 2nd most "Innovative" educational institution in the category of Institutes of National Importance, Central University & CFIs (Non-Technical). It is a matter of great pride for IIM-K as it is the only IIM to get featured in the list, along with the IITs.
A matter of great honor for IIM-Kozhikode
This is the first time that Non-Technical institutions have been included in ARIIA. According to the 2020 edition of the rankings, IIM Kozhikode was ranked in the 'Institutes of National Importance, Central Universities & CFTIs' category. IIM-K came in second place in the category of "National Importance, Central University & CFIs (Non-Technical)" after IGNOU, Delhi.
Speaking on this stellar achievement Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode, said “IIMK’s career-best fourth rank in NIRF and second rank in ARIIA makes our silver jubilee year all the more special. Innovation is the bedrock on which IIM-K has dared to go beyond traditional boundaries and providing the right motivation and guidance to bolster the entrepreneurial spirit is fundamental to our Vision 2047 of Globalizing Indian Thought. The growth model of this century will be founded on innovation and not on consumption. India will lead the world in Innovation and initiatives such as ARIIA will encourage Institutes like IIM-K to usher in the next era of innovators and change makers.”

Not only this, IIM- Kozhikode has added a bunch of colorful feathers to its ever evolving hat!
- IIMK was recently awarded the globally renowned EQUIS Accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
- QS Global Rankings, World’s most trusted rankings, featured IIM - Kozhikode’s Post Graduate and Executive Post Graduate Programme.
- As per the QS Masters in Management Rankings 2022, the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) is among the top ten programmes in Asia.
- IIMK was ranked fourth among IIMs and fourth among management schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2021
Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA Rankings)
Indian higher education institutions and universities are being evaluated using the ARIIA Rankings released by the Ministry of Education (MoE), which aims to promote "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development." This year's ARIIA had participation from 1438 institutions, including IITs, NITs, IISc, and IIMs.
Indicators taken into consideration
- Support for the project's budget and finance
- Infrastructure and Facilities.
- Raising public awareness, advocating innovative ideas, and offering aid in their implementation.
- Entrepreneurship Development, Promotion and Assistance.
- Courses & Methods of Learning That Are Different.
- Intellectual property creation, transfer, and commercialization.
- The institution's governance is being modernized using innovative methods.
In 2019, the inaugural ARIIA edition began, with 496 institutions competing for a place in the ranking. The results were revealed in front of the Hon'ble President of India on April 8th, 2019. The Hon'ble Vice-President of India released the rankings for the second edition of ARIIA (2020) on August 18, 2020, with participation from 674 institutions. ARIIA 2021 had a record number of participants compared to the previous two editions. More than twice as many institutions (including all IITs, NITs, IISc, etc.) participated in the 3rd edition as in the first, and almost four times as many as in the first. Third edition of ARIIA established a framework for non-technical institutions that enhanced the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Indian higher education institutions further.
