IIM Kozhikode summer placement package goes as high as 3.74 lakh for 2 months!

IIM Kozhikode (IIM-K) has successfully completed its virtual summer placements in just three days for its 25th Post Graduate Program (PGP) and the second batches of PGP Liberal Studies and Management, and PGP Finance. This year, the highest stipend offered stood at 3.74 lakh, significantly better than the previous year’s 3.2 LPA. The average stipend offered was 2 Lakh and the median stipend stood at the same figure (2 Lakh) with the upper half of the batch attracting a median stipend of 2.57 lakh.

A total of 559 students participated in the drive with 132 recruiters, out of which 64 were new entrants. The cohort was a good mix of candidates with 40% non-engineers and 39% gender diversity. The average pre-MBA work experience stood at 26 months, which shows that the management behemoth encourages experienced professionals. 

Prominent Recruiters at IIM Kozhikode

During the Pandemic, we saw internships even at prominent colleges being revoked. But, this did not thwart IIM Kozhikode and it witnessed participation from prominent organizations and start-ups offering diverse roles across domains such as Consulting, Finance, Sales & Marketing, etc. Some of the prominent ones are mentioned below.

There were quite a few new recruiters(64) that came to IIM Kozhikode which shows that the institute is moving ahead in the right direction and these recruiters have faith in the institute’s talent pool. Some of the notable ones include FinIQ Consulting, Johnson & Johnson, Loreal, Marico, Myntra, PepsiCo, Reliance, Avendus Capital, etc.

Domain-wise Breakdown

Sales & Marketing, Consulting and Finance were the most sought after domains on campus occupying a major chunk(73%) of the total offers made. 

1. Sales & Marketing

Sales & Marketing was one of the most sought after domains. Out of the total offers, one-fourth(25%) came from this domain which shows its popularity. Many prominent recruiters such as Marico, Asian Paints, Bajaj, Nestle, PepsiCo, etc offered Sales & Marketing roles for candidates in the same domain. 

2. Consulting 

Whenever you read an article about placements, this domain has to be present. Such is the buzz of consulting in MBA colleges. This year was no different for IIM K. 22% of the total offers made were from consulting. Many consulting giants such as Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte India, Deloitte USI, Ernst & Young, etc eagerly participated in the process.

3. BFSI

A significant portion of the students was offered internships in the BFSI domain. Internships were offered in Front-end Investment banking, which is one of the fancy roles that MBA grads dream about. Other roles offered include Quantitative finance, Equity Research, Private Equity, etc. Notable recruiters for the BFSI domain include Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Edelweiss Tokio, FinIQ Consulting, Nomura, Reliance Nippon, etc. 

4. IT & Analytics

The IT & Analytics cohort attracted offers from a good mix of IT giants like American Express,, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, MX Player, Walmart Lab and technical departments of Asian Paints, DRL and HUL, etc.

IIM K is known for its attitude to encourage people from different backgrounds and gender. The Director of IIM K, Debashis Chatterjee, also said about the summer placements along similar lines. 

"The ability to secure a broad mandate of offers amidst a challenging economic and business environment was possible due to encouraging participation from recruiters and through the ever-strengthening IIM-K alumni support, who are also expanding the institute's global footprints as our ambassadors. We also believe the tremendous response to summer placements is an optimistic omen to our forthcoming final placement season," said the Director.

Even in difficult times, the prominent management institute was able to attract recruiters for diverse roles for internships. The institute’s resilience and the director’s optimism bode well for the future of the institute, which continues to attract notable organizations for placements.
