IIM Tiruchirappalli commences PG course in supply chain management
IIIM Tiruchirappalli has begun its very first batch of the online postgraduate programme in supply chain management (PGCSCM). The PGCSCM is a one-year programme that will be offered to the participants via digital platforms which will cover a range of topics related to supply chain management.
The programme is designed in such a way that it also hones the existing skillset of supply chain professionals to achieve better performance rates. This strategic HRM (Human Resource Management) will aid the participants in understanding the mannerisms of operationalization and the way different functional edges of human resource management are strategically aligned in order to achieve the desired objectives.
Need for a practical approach
Rakesh Sinha, the Founder and CEO of Reflexive Supply Chain Solutions, and the Chief Guest of the event emphasized the need for a hands-on learning experience and a practical approach while he touched on the problems related to supply chain management.
During his address, he threw light on the relevant issues, such as customer-oriented focus, signing the correct deal/compromising with the help of optimization models. Besides these, he also highlighted some significant aspects that focused on combining customer’s choice while taking any decision and interrogating the assumptions behind mathematical models.
Remote proctoring and e-learning
Upam Pushpak Makhecha, the Chairperson of Media Relations said that the institute is also planning to go ahead with the online examinations of the students under remote proctoring and is currently preparing the e-books for the incoming PGPM and PGPM-HR batches.
Vikas Vij, the Senior Director and Head of Operations, Maersk Line, stressed on the need to build a highly resilient supply chain, to be as flexible as possible and continually match the supply with the market demand.
