IIT Jodhpur becomes the first institute in India to install AI supercomputers

IIT Jodhpur has recently announced the receipt of NVIDIA DGX A100 that will be installed at the Central Computing Facility systems for students, from all departments, including the School of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science. The institute has therefore become the first Indian customer and recipient of this industry-leading AI supercomputer. Machine learning is the crux of the DGX A100 infrastructure that shall be combined with every department and curriculum at IIT Jodhpur.

NVIDIA DGX A100

With an unprecedented compute density, unmatched performance and flexibility, NVIDIA DGX A100 is the universal system for all AI workloads, in the world’s five petaFLOPS AI systems. The system features the world’s most advanced accelerator, the NVIDIA DGX A100 tensor core GPU, that very well enables and manages different enterprises to consolidate analytics, interface, and training into a very cohesive AI infrastructure that is inclusive of direct access to NVIDIA AI experts and professionals. The GPU deep learning ignites modern AI and acts as the brain of computers, refined computer graphics and upgraded parallel computing.

A profound history of research

IIT Jodhpur has a long history of basic research that has focused on Bioengineering/Bioscience healthcare, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Smart Healthcare and Metallurgical Engineering. The DGX A100 system will aid the 96 research projects that are currently underway at IIT Jodhpur. Students who are from the Data Science and AI curriculum in B.Tech will be the principal users of the machine.

Vishal Dhupar, the Managing Director, South Asia, NVIDIA exclaimed that the fundamental research at IIT Jodhpur will help in providing solutions to everyday challenges of 1.3 billion Indians. He also congratulated the institution on being their first DGX A100 customer in India that will help them find the solution in the fastest time via AI Research.
