Global university ranking platform EduRank has released the state-wise rankings of institutes in Uttar Pradesh in which IIT Kanpur has been ranked in the top position. On an all-India level, the institute has been ranked in the sixth position.

As per the state-level rankings, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) came second, followed by Aligarh Muslim University in the third position.

The fourth position among institutes in Uttar Pradesh has been occupied by Lucknow University, which has also been ranked in the 29th position on an all-India basis.

The global ranking platform EduRank surveyed as many as 79 universities in Uttar Pradesh and included them all in the rankings.

Although the University of Lucknow and the University of Allahabad came fourth and fifth respectively, the most striking entry into the list was Amity University. Noida-based Amity came sixth in the list, which is just above IIT BHU at seventh.

Other prominent names in the rankings were Shiv Nadar University at 22 and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIT), Allahabad at 23.

According to available reports, the EduRank rankings have been prepared on the basis of three main parameters:

  • Leading performance of the institute
  • Curricular activities
  • Performance of notable alumni

With IIT Kanpur topping the list in the 2022 rankings, the year is turning out a good one for Indian institutes. It was also reported recently that Jadavpur University has been ranked in the first position among all the state universities by the Nature index: rankings published by the scientific journal Nature.

The Nature index of an institute is calculated on the overall performance (number of research articles) by authors from that institute, in comparison with the percentage of authors from the institute per article or count and share.

Note that the Nature rankings are compiled every year based on the academic activities of the previous year. As a result, the 2022 rankings are based on the performance of the institute in the 2020-21 session.
