The journey of reaching the national finals and then winning the crown of the first Runners-Up of ABG HeadstaRt 2019 was not only enriching but also an eye-opener. The zeal and hard work required to compete, helped us grow as an individual and win the coveted title.
The competition consisted of different rounds of simulation. From the very first round to the finale, the entire experience was overwhelming. Everything was very well organised. It was fun completing the simulation tasks. We especially enjoyed sitting in the library, at times for the entire night, till the watchman kicked us out. 6 teams made it to the Finale. We took around 10 days to work on the last case study.
Our team was formed accidentally. But I’m glad to have come across such diverse individuals and that we’ve become good friends in this journey of ABG HeadstaRt. The bond that we shared was unmatched. It helped us succeed and win the title.
The most important thing I learnt was how crucial it is to understand the nuances of every individual when working in a team. Our team made it to the finale just because of the mutual understanding we had. We acknowledged each other's strengths to leverage that when required.
Apart from the winning moment, there were many other instances that caught my attention, during the competition. It was especially while witnessing presentations of the other teams when we realized the key aspects that we had missed and which should be incorporated in our future presentations. Such learnings were really helpful.
To top it all, the judgement quality was remarkable. The panel consisted of CHROs who had previously worked in the sectors assigned to us. Not only did they help us but also provided real-life examples to make us learn better.
In all, the experience of bagging the title of the first Runners-Up of ABG HeadstaRt 2019 was phenomenal.
