Rozgar Mela: PM Modi Hands Out 51,000 Appointment Letters Across 46 Locations In India

On September 26, 2023, PM Narendra Modi distributed 51,000 appointment letters to new recruits across 46 locations in India. The distribution ceremony was carried out through video conferencing. The PM also took the occasion to address the new appointees.

The Rozgar Mela is seen as a noble step towards the fulfillment of PM Modi’s government's initiative to generate as many jobs as possible to mitigate unemployment in the country. Organized by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Rozgar Mela employs candidates in various government departments, at the Central and State levels.

Rozgar Mela Appointees To Work In Various Departments

The 51,000 newly appointed recruits will be incorporated into different Ministries/Departments such as the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Department of Posts, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare etc.

To be eligible to apply for the Rozgar Mela, an individual must be in the age group of 18-35 years. Candidates must also possess an academic qualification from 8th/10th/12th pass, ITI, graduates, diploma, etc. Those candidates, who are trained and certified under the National Skills Qualifications Framework are also eligible to apply for jobs under Rozgar Mela.

Rozgar Mela- Its Efficiency So Far

The Rozgar Mela recruitment drive began in June 2022 after PM Modi assured to fill 10 lakh posts within 18 months. As per reports, with the latest Rozgar Mela of September 2023, a total estimate of 4.59 lakh appointment letters have been handed over to recruits.

The government has also added another new learning platform- Karmayogi Prarambh where new appointees will be provided an additional opportunity to train themselves while working in various government departments.
