From the B-School track, Team Trifecta from FMS Delhi comprising Sourav Manni, Abhishek Tyagi, and Aditi Aggarwal bagged the trophy of the Winner. The position of Runner Up was grabbed by Team EquipoUAO1 from Universidad Autonoma de Occidente, Cali, Colombia, comprising Daniela Salas, Alberio Alejandro, and Alejandra Farnandez.

“It was an unbelievable feeling”
Celebrating their tremendous win, Team Outliers from JU Kolkata in an exclusive interview said, “It was overwhelming, to say the least. This competition has seen the three of us give in our best efforts, spend sleepless nights working on the most practical and relevant solution to the problem statement we had chosen. Seeing our efforts getting recognized and awarded by the jury was nothing short of a dream-come-true moment for our entire team.”
Team EquipoUAO1 from Universidad Autonoma de Occidente, Cali, Colombia, said, “The moment when the judge said in Spanish: ¡Felicidades equipo de Colombia! - it was an unbelievable feeling. We felt a great emotion when the jury mentioned our team name and our country. We never thought we were going to get this far, when they mentioned the Colombian team as the Runner up, our heart stopped for a microsecond and was overflowed with joy.”
“Little by little we climbed up the ladder”
Talking of the winning strategy, Hritajit from Team Outliers shared that from day 1 their team had a systematic approach. At first, they just aimed at the qualifying round and after qualifying it they aimed at a one-slide ppt round. They aimed step-wise and slowly one by one we crossed all the hurdles came to this position today.
Supporting his teammate’s statement, Sagnik said,
“Once we were given the problem statement, we tried to understand the needs and requirements of the solution well. We conducted thorough market research as to what solutions are already available in the market. Accordingly, we tried to propose a solution that'd add some value to them and emerge as a feasible and actionable solution with respect to the current scenario.”
Here is what Daniela Salas Betancourt from Universidad Autónoma de Occidente have to share about their strategy:
“Challenge? What is that? - It all lies in your perspective”
The E-School track Runner-up Saket from the NOR-P team, IIT Madras said, “We had to coordinate timings and arrange for multiple meets. Getting someone on call when they're not next door, was also difficult. So we came upon a general strategy and a timetable that was sustainable for us. However, like every cloud has a silver lining, due to the online mode, we could reach out to seniors and professors which would otherwise be not that easy.”
To this, Daniela Salas said, “We worked for about 3 months on the problem and the most challenging phase was to put everything in a 10 min presentation, in a way the jury could capture the main message.”
“You get exceptional learnings from competitions”
“I have learned a lot in the past 3 months. The competition has inculcated a fantastic sense of teamwork and problem-solving in me. I've learned to work hard in silence and await the results that'd create all the noise and hype. This competition has taught me that hard work always yields rich dividends.”, said Sagnik Sarkar from Team Outliers.
To this, his teammate, Hritajit Pal also added, “I learned how to move in a systematic approach to win a competition by setting a small goal each day. I learned how to coordinate with a team and how to work hand-in-hand. From the two sessions conducted by BML Munjal University, I learned to make a business model, a marketing canvas for a model, and how to give a nice pitch that could influence the listeners. On the day of the finale, I got many ideas from our fellow mates' presentation and I enriched my knowledge on the automobile industry.”
The Runner-up team from Columbia said,
“Hero Campus Challenge Season 7 taught us not to underestimate our abilities. Thanks to this challenge, we learned many things about how to present an idea, the fundamentals of a business model, and above all, teamwork. It was a perfect ground to implement our college learnings.”
“A team needs mutual respect, common goals, open communication, and patience”
When asked about the team’s forte, Albeiro and Alejandra said, “Our team's forte was settling every one of us at the same level. No one was bigger than the other one. We are very proud of each one of us for our great work as a team. Each member was a key player in our triumph. Each member had their own skills to bring to the team. The strength of our team was based on how we knew how to take advantage of those different skills."
Dedicating his win to his team, Srinjoy Das from Team Outliers said, “I am proud to say that my team members, Sagnik and Hritajit were extremely hardworking and dedicated. Sagnik was our Team Leader. He has exceptional problem-solving abilities and contributed significantly to building our main idea. My strength lies in the Technical part. I helped in developing the solution to the problem as well as in market research. And for Hritajit, he helped us with the research portion and provided some amazing ideas as well.“
“Problem statements and framework of the competition matters”
Speaking of the framework of Hero Campus Challenge Season 7, Srinjoy Das from Team Outliers, said, “The entire competition spanned over almost 3 months and it was very well organized. In the Grand Finale, the jury consisted of the Senior Management of Hero MotoCorp Limited. The panel provided all the teams with excellent feedback and valuable insights.”
Another member of the Team Outliers, Hritajit Pal contributed,
“The jury team had the best professors and automobile enthusiasts from India. Really, I was very lucky to interact with such people during the competition. In terms of judgment quality, organization, and framing, the competition was great and by becoming the National winners in this competition my dream came true.”
We hope their experiences and insights have fueled your desire to compete and learn a lot!
