The XAT Exam, i.e. the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), is one of India's most popular and prestigious MBA entrance exams. The XAT exam date has been declared as January 7, 2024. The registrations for this year’s XAT exam started on July 15, 2023. 

The last date to register for the XAT exam 2024 is November 30, 2023.

For 74+ years, XLRI has been administering the XAT exam for aspiring MBA students. The national exam is conducted annually across 90 cities. Apart from XLRI and other XAMI (Xavier Associate Management Institutes), the XAT score is accepted by 160+ B-schools in India. These include colleges like IMT Ghaziabad, GIM Goa, TAPMI Manipal, XIMB Bhubaneswar, and FORE School of Management, etc. 

Per the NIRF 2023 rankings, XLRI ranked 9th in the management category. 

XAT Exam: Important Dates & Eligibility Criteria

Per the official XAT exam notification, the eligibility criterion states that the “candidates must have earned a three-year bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. Moreover, students who anticipate completing their final examinations by June 10, 2024, can apply.”

Here are the important dates for the XAT Exam 2024 that all candidates should take note of:

How To Register For XAT Exam?

If you’re interested in registering for the XAT exam, then please follow these steps: 

  1. Visit the official XAT website and register online. 
  2. Verify the email ID.
  3. Fill out the XAT exam application form online
  4. Upload all the required documents.
  5. Pay the application fees online. 
  6. Submit your application form.

Please note: the XAT Registration Fee is INR 2100. For those candidates applying for XLRI programs, the fee is INR 200 per program. 

XAT Exam Pattern

The XAT question paper comprises two parts, both of which are timed. Here are the details of each part: 

Part I

a) Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning (VA & LR)

b) Decision Making (DM)

c) Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation (QA & DI)

Part II

a) General Knowledge (GK)

b) Analytical Essay Writing (AEW)

Typically, the XAT exam has anywhere between 100-105 questions, with each section comprising 22 to 30 questions. 

Important: Part II, i.e. the General Knowledge and Essay sections, do not influence the cutoff score. However, their evaluation is taken into account during the interview stage.
