Your IIT dreams can now be a reality! IIT Madras offers free online courses!
Along with IIT Madras, six other IITs (Guwahati, Bombay, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Delhi, and Roorkee), as well as IISc Bangalore, have a part in the NPTEL initiative.
The NPTEL initiative aims to offer online courses that are not only free but are also open to everyone. These courses will vary across the fields of engineering, humanities, and science.
How to apply
The enrollment is now open for the free online courses at IIT Madras. To apply for any of the courses you can visit the NPTEL Online Courses (NOC website). The NOC website also lists other online courses under the NPTEL initiative.
While the courses are free, a fee of Rs 1000 will be required in order to give the examination. The last date to register is July 27, 2020, and the course ends on September 1. Exams would be held about a month later from September 27.
A great opportunity
IITs of the country are considered to be the top-notch institutions for engineering. So, the fact that you could do a course at an IIT for free sounds like a pretty sweet deal.
In the online courses offered by IIT Madras, students taking these courses will earn 20 credits for their subjects. The classes will be live and held online. Study material, assignments, etc. will also be made available on the web. Once the students clear the examination, they will receive the due credit for the course.
IITs have always been centres for some of the most innovative minds in the country. They have come forward and proved time and again their dedication towards contributing towards the technological development of the country.
