Founded by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner in the December of 1984 in order to enable communication, Cisco Systems, Inc. is headquartered in San Jose, California, in the center of Silicon Valley. Cisco, an American multinational technology conglomerate, specializes in specific tech markets, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), domain security and energy management through its numerous acquired subsidiaries, such as Jabber, OpenDNS, Jasper, and WebEx.

Cisco had a market capitalization of $224 million by the time it went public in the year 1990. With more than 74,000 employees all around the world, Cisco is led by Chuck Robbins as the company’s Chairman and CEO.

• Chuck Robbins: In his 20 years at Cisco, Chuck Robbins has served at positions such as Segment Vice President, the U.S., and Canada channel organization, Senior Vice President of The Americas, Senior Vice President of U.S. Commercial Sales and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. He is the current Chairman and CEO of Cisco.
• Kelly A. Kramer: Apart from operating as the company’s CFO, Kelly A. Kramer also oversees Cisco's Corporate Development and Integration organization. Before joining Cisco in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of GE Healthcare's Healthcare Systems business.

• Sentryo (intent to acquire): As on 6 June 2019, Cisco intends to acquire Sentryo which provides device visibility and security solutions for industrial control system (ICS) networks.
• Singularity Networks: With the plans to unite the capabilities of analytics platform of the Singularity Networks into its Crosswork Network Automation portfolio, Cisco acquired Singularity Networks on 30^th January 2019.
• Luxtera, Inc.: On 18^th December 2018, Cisco acquired Luxtera Inc., a semiconductor corporation that applies silicon photonics to develop integrated optics capabilities for webscale and business data centers, service provider market segments, and other clients.
• Ensoft Limited: On 21^st November 2018, Cisco acquired Ensoft Limited which provides software solutions for service provider networks.
• Duo Security: On 2nd August 2018, Cisco acquired the leading provider of unified access security and multi-factor authentication delivered through the cloud, Duo Security.
• July Systems: On 19^th June 2018, Cisco acquired July Systems which provides an enterprise-grade engagement platform with leading features such as instant customer activation, data-driven behavioral insights, contextual rules engine, and APIs.
• Accompany: On 1^st May 2018, Cisco acquires Accompany which developed an AI-driven connection intelligence program for discovering unique possibilities, navigating the selling process, and sustaining relationships.
• Skyport Systems, Inc.: On 24 January 2018, Cisco acquired Skyport Systems which developed cloud-managed, hyper-converged systems that run and protect business-critical applications. 
• Cmpute.io: On 7^th December 2017, Cisco acquired Cmpute.io whose software solution analyzes cloud-deployed workloads and consumption patterns, and identifies cost-optimization strategies.

Corporate Social Responsibility:

Cisco’s India Group comprises of Cisco Systems (India) Private Limited, together with Cisco Systems Capital (India) Private Limited, Cisco Video Technologies India Private Limited, Cisco Development India Private Limited, Cisco Systems Services B.V. India Branch, and WebEx Communications India Private Limited. The group has aligned on a collection of general CSR initiatives and partake all expenses associated with CSR to maximize the outcomes of the resources ready within the India Group for CSR activities. For its CSR initiatives, Cisco works with nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that meet the stated requirements for receiving CSR-related funding. A few of the initiatives launched by Cisco as a part of its CSR:

• Smart+Connected Schools: Cisco wants to develop schools as community centers by making schools in targeted areas, smart schools. So as to create smart schools, Cisco will work with technology and implementation partners to provide sustainable infrastructure, internet connectivity, technical skills development, academic support, scholarships for girl students, school kits, libraries, science labs, etc.
• Cisco Networking Academy Program: The Cisco Networking Academy program teaches students how to design, build, manage, and secure computer networks. The program, which at present holds 10,000 institutions in 165 countries and has one million learners absorbed in learning each year, qualifies people to fill positions that are in demand globally and, at the same time, nurses the educational needs of local communities.
• Gender Equality and Empowerment- Girls in IT: Cisco Networking Academy program focuses on equipping women with the skills needed to build careers and participate economically. 7400 young women were enrolled in the program in the year 2003, learning to develop their skillset to enter the workforce and be the leaders of tomorrow. To attain this goal, the Cisco Group runs the 'Girls in IT' initiative, which by a sequence of in-person and virtual experiences reaches out to thousands of young women across India every year to enable and inspire young women to begin careers in the domain of IT.
• Economic Empowerment: Concentrating on the requirement for ICT abilities and infrastructure, Cisco invests in technology-based solutions that inspire societies to develop, increase opportunities for entrepreneurs, increase access to skills advancement as well as financial products and services, and enhance the operational effectiveness of nonprofit organizations operating to abolish poverty.
• Internet of Everything (IoE) Initiative: Internet of Everything will promote significant new opportunities for the next-generation workforce. To equip the coming generation to hold the benefit of such opportunities, the IoE program grants access to a formal curriculum, industry specialist webcast, and other support programs developed to equip the people for these coming jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities.
• Disaster Response: One of the major focus of Cisco in India was the Uttarakhand Flood Relief program with Cisco contributing in excess of INR10 million to primary NGOs working in the field. A US$ 10 million grant of cash, services, solutions, and equipment was committed to supporting rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the Raichur district of Karnataka after the October 2009 floods that devastated rural communities in northern Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
