It is on 27th September, 2020 that approximately 2.5 lakh candidates will take the IIT JEE Advanced 2020. Students are only left with just ten days to prepare for the same and polish up the edges of their knowledge. Many scholars advise on a conscious strategy that candidates have to keep in mind when the JEE Advanced 2020 is just around the corner.

Identifying yourself is the first step to make things different for you. You have to identify and comprehend if you are satisfied with your preparations, if you want to improve on certain areas, or if you are not content with your ongoing preparations and need to adopt better strategies.

You don't have to forget that you are unique, that your skill set will always be different from others. And since the comparison is the seed of self-doubt, you have to be strong enough in order to trust yourself.

Strengths and weaknesses - the factors that differentiate

When you give enough time and energy to yourself, you will soon realise your areas of dominance and weakness. With this realisation comes responsibility. Candidates have to keep their strengths intact so that it bridges the gap of their weakness. Revision is the foundation of confidence - the more you revise the parts where you lack focus, the more you are on your way to self-improvement. But this should not mean you lose hold of your strong points. Keeping both your strong and weak areas balanced is the sign of a well-formed strategy.

A routine that reassures

Nothing great has ever been achieved without following a proper routine. Candidates have to set their body clocks according to the time frames that suit them the most. Your time table of revision should be in line with your exam schedule on the final day. Try to keep yourself away from external distractions and study with a focused mind.

A major step towards improvement - taking mock exams

This has been seen that taking mock tests before any examination tunes your brain to a greater performance level. You not only begin performing better each time but also develop self-confidence. However, choosing the correct mock tests is of greater importance. Experts say that because there are plenty of educational resources available, it becomes mandatory for candidates preparing for JEE Advanced 2020 to take these tests from a reliable coaching institute.

The next step is to analyse your performance and visualise your shortcomings and be your own teacher. Noting down your mistakes and revising them thoroughly will set the benchmark with respect to your subject-wise performance in the mock tests.

A short break for a strong mind

Monotony makes the mind dull and to overcome it, you have to give yourself a small break. This will bring new energy to your tired brain cells and you can then concentrate more easily. Listen to your favourite music or go for an evening stroll. The time you spend relaxing should inspire you with more vigor, that will keep your enthusiasm intact. You can also talk to your friends and family members because talking always helps. To increase your productivity and make your mind stronger, short breaks are necessary and recommended as well.

Stay motivated, stay honest

What is missing in the candidates these years is the tenet of honesty - staying true to their own selves. This means that you are not in a rat race to please your teachers, parents or batchmates. You have to stay true to yourself and constantly remind yourself of all the grinding hard work you have done. Efforts never go waste, so keep on trying and don’t be too hard on yourself. The world is full of uncertainties and keeping a rigid notion of success will only demotivate you. Adapt your mindset as per the changing needs and embrace all that comes your way. Doing this you will realise that you are walking on the right pathway.
