The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is inviting applications from engineers for an apprenticeship at its premier laboratory, the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL). As per the notification for the DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship Recruitment 2023, 51 posts are available for engineering graduates and diploma holders.

DRDO is the country’s leading R&D organization, charged with military research and development. Within DRDO, NSTL undertakes the research and development of naval weapons and related systems. The laboratory is located in Vishakhapatnam.

DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship 2023: Eligibility Criteria

The DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship 2023 is only open to Indian nationals aged 18 or above. Please find below the detailed eligibility criteria:

The apprenticeship is only open to engineering graduates and diploma holders in the following fields
- Graduate Apprenticeship: B.E/B.Tech in

Mechanical Engineering,
Naval Architecture,
Computer Science Engineering,
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
Electronics & Instrumentation
Electrical & Electronics Engg. (EEE)

- Diploma Apprenticeship: Diploma in

Computer Science Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)
Electronics & Instrumentation
Commercial and Computer Practice
Mechanical Engineering

Only candidates who graduated during the years 2021, 2022, and 2023 are eligible to apply.
The following candidates are not eligible to apply:

Candidates who have a post-graduate qualification
Candidates with more than one year of experience
Candidates younger than 18

The reservations for SC/ST/OBC categories are applicable as per the provisions of the Apprentice Act 1961, Apprentice Rules 1992, and Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules 2019.

DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship 2023: Selection Process

The DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship Recruitment 2023 notification states that the selection will be made on the basis of Academic Merit/Written Test/Interview as required, subject to satisfactory verification of the documents.

Selected candidates will have to produce a valid Police Verification Certificate either from their place of last residence (for at least the past year) or permanent address at the time of joining.

Selected candidates will be hired for a period of 12 months or 1 year. The stipend details are as follows:

Post	Monthly Stipend
Graduate Apprenticeship	INR 9,000
Diploma Apprenticeship	INR 8,000

DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship 2023: Application Process

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the apprenticeship. The last date to apply for the apprenticeship is June 28, 2023. Here’s the application process:

Candidates have to complete the application form provided in Annexure-A in the DRDO (NSTL) Apprenticeship Recruitment 2023 notification.
The scanned copies of the completed application form and the mandatory supporting documents have to be mailed to the email id: admin.dept.nstl@gov.in.
Candidates will also need to bring a signed copy of the form, along with original certificates, at the time of selection/ document verification.
Marks obtained in the qualifying exam should be mentioned in percentage.
No application will be accepted after the last date.
