The 23 Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs) are among the most prestigious educational institutions across India, with a renowned reputation around the globe. Offering both undergraduate, postgraduate, and research courses, IIT pass outs are well-known for their breakthrough performance in respective fields and also their cool use of intellect and practical experience.

How does NIRF Rank The IITs?
10 of the 23 IITs have earned a spot in the Top NIRF rankings. The authority selects the best engineering schools based on a variety of criteria, including Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), Graduation Outcomes (GO), and Peer Perception.
The Top 10 IITs According To NIRF Rankings
1. IIT Madras
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, located in Chennai, was founded in 1959 with the assistance of the West German government. For the past three years, the NIRF Ranking has ranked IIT Madras as India's Best Engineering Institute.
2. IIT Delhi
In terms of engineering institutes in India, IIT Delhi is the second best. The institute is called the College of Engineering and Technology. The institute was given the name IIT in 1963. Along with a beautiful campus, IIT Delhi is also located in the heart of the national capital which opens up a lot of possibilities for the students.
3. IIT Bombay
India's second-oldest IIT, IIT Bombay was founded in 1958 and is located in Powai, Mumbai. Students can select from a variety of graduate programs available at the institute. There are 17 departments in the institute, along with 13 multidisciplinary centers and 3 outstanding schools.
4. IIT Kharagpur
IIT Kharagpur is India's oldest technical institute. In 1951, the institute was established in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The institute consists of 19 departments, 8 multidisciplinary centers, thirteen schools of excellence, and 25 research divisions. The library at IIT Kharagpur is known for its enormous range and extensivity.
5. IIT Roorkee
IIT Roorkee was previously known as the University of Roorkee and Thomason College of Civil Engineering. Established in 1847, IIT Roorkee was designated India's sixth IIT in 2001. The institute consists of 21 academic departments offering 11 undergraduate programs, one integrated dual degree program, and 61 postgraduate programs.
6. IIT Guwahati
IIT Guwahati was established in 1993, making it India's sixth-oldest IIT. IIT Guwahati is located on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River, close to the city's airport. The institute has quickly risen to prominence as one of India's top ten IITs. IIT Guwahati employs 215 faculty members and 300 support staff across 11 academic departments and 10 research centers.

7. IIT Hyderabad
IIT Hyderabad was established in 2008 in Telangana's Sangareddy region. The Institute is made up of 14 academic departments that offer Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in 9 different fields, as well as 285 B. Tech degree spots. IIT Hyderabad has quickly gained recognition for its academic reputation, research, and proximity to the country's major IT hub.
8. IIT Dhanbad
The Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad is a public technical institution located in Dhanbad, India, with a 218-acre main campus. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a Nationally Significant Institute that has 18 academic departments offering programs in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and Management. It was previously known as the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
9. IIT Indore
IIT Indore was founded in 2009, making it one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology. The most lucrative domestic offer at IIT Indore was worth INR 56 LPA, while the most lucrative international offer was worth INR 57 crore per year.
10. IIT(BHU) Varanasi
The Banaras Engineering College, which later became the Indian Institute of Technology, was established in 1919. There are 14 academic departments and three multidisciplinary schools at IIT-BHU, Varanasi.
