Due to her inspiring feat, the honorable governor of Andhra Pradesh Biswa Bhusan Harichandan awarded Mounica a gold medal at a convocation held in Anantapur on Saturday.
A Tough Journey For A Young Aspirant
Mounica had a strong will to serve the common people. Instead of pursuing internships or additional courses, she contested in the panchayat elections last year and emerged victorious, while also studying for the final year of her M.Tech.
She expressed her happiness and celebrated the victory - “It is a big honour for me to get elected as panchayat sarpanch of my native village Pedda Marriveedu. Securing the gold medal at convocation has furthered my joy.”
She shared the difficulties she had faced because of the Covid-19 pandemic, like all of us. Due to her college being closed amidst the pandemic lockdown, she had to complete the remaining semesters and examinations without going to college. It became all the more difficult as she was also preparing to contest the panchayat elections amidst everything else.

A Desire For Public-Service

She also spoke about the ongoing task of providing drinking water to each and every household with the support of local legislator Chenna Kesava Reddy.
With the backing of local elders and her father Narasanna to take the political plunge, Mounica contested the elections in her village with success. Prior to her engineering degree, she completed a diploma in polytechnic. Besides, she was also a topper in SSC, intermediate, and now in engineering as well!
