CAT 2022: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Candidates in their final year of a Bachelor's degree or those awaiting their results are also eligible to take the CAT exam.
  • Those with professional qualifications such as CA/CS/ICWA are also eligible to take the CAT.

Candidates who plan to take the CAT exam should practice answering previous year's question papers to become familiar with the types of questions that will be asked. This exam attracts over two lakh applicants. As a result, the competition for passing it is fierce. For General category students the CAT cut-off percentile for top IIMs is estimated to be around 98-100. For newer IIMs the cut-off is comparatively lower.
