The Uttarakhand Police Department in collaboration with IIT Roorkee is conducting the Devbhoomi Cyber Hackathon 2022, the second iteration of the event. Under this event, programmers across the country have been invited to provide solutions for the increasingly perilous world of cybercrimes.

In the digital age, with advancing technology, we are also witnessing an era where cyber crimes are being committed like never before. Hence, there is an urgent need to protect the public from the danger of hacking. As a result, the hackathon is also a genius way of spreading awareness among the people as well as opening up possibilities for solutions.

The event is open to any contestant above the age of 18 and both individuals or groups of up to 5 members can participate. The prelims will be held during the months of May, June, and July and teams/individuals shortlisted in this round will appear for the final round at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun from 9th to 12th August.

The top three teams will win INR 6 Lakhs worth of prize money. In the first edition, 332 teams from across the country participated in the event and this year the event is expected to garner the same amount of participation, if not more.

Prof. Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee, said, “Devbhoomi Cyber Hackathon 2.0 is the way forward for SMART policing as it will take up the challenge to identify and track criminals who exploit vulnerabilities in cybersecurity.”

The different problem statements include problems in the fields of Crime Mapping/ Crime Hotspot generation, Drone Technology, Crypto Currency, Dark Web/Dark Net, Mobile Data Analytics/IPDR Analytics, etc.

Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, said "In the last 1-2 years Uttarakhand Cyber Police has done commendable work and now it is committed to find innovative technological solutions by organizing DCH and other arrangements, which will act as a benchmark and shape smart policing and cyber security. In the second edition of DCH, IIT-Roorkee is the Knowledge Partner and Tech Mahindra is the Industrial Partner."
