About The Course
The Foundation Program in Entrepreneurship is designed for women in the fledgling stages of their business careers and will provide them with the assistance to make an entry into the entrepreneurial world. In this, they will learn to identify an opportunity and set up the resources required to make it successful. The Advanced Program is made for a slightly higher-skilled audience as it is for women entrepreneurs who are looking for ways to notch their ventures up a level. They will learn how to expand their markets, access funds, sharpen their business models, and appeal to a larger audience.
Both courses have a duration of 4 months with four hours of classes each week. The total learning hours include 40 hours for subject sessions and 20 hours for question &answer sessions.
"Innovation and Entrepreneurship are the buzzwords around which the history of the 21st century will be scripted. Entrepreneurship has always been a gendered phenomenon, with a far lesser number of women choosing it as a road to empowerment. IIM Kozhikode is a pioneer in gender diversity and we strongly believe that collaborations like these will change the status quo and unleash the untapped potential of women entrepreneurs. It is now time to nurture women with entrepreneurship ambitions and develop the skills and perspectives that will help them set up and run sustainable businesses to make the world a better place," said Debashish Chatterjee, director of IIM K.
The Entrepreneurial field to this day remains a male-dominated field. The reason for this, however, is not the lack of skilled women, rather it is the lack of resources and training readily accessible to them. Hopefully, this initiative will provide talented young women with the knowledge they need and find a balance within the current disparity.
On behalf of NCW, Member Secretary Ms Meeta Rajivlochan said, "Women have a key role to play in the economic roadmap of India. In a knowledge economy, access to knowledge is crucial. Through this collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management, the National Commission for Women aims to facilitate such access to knowledge; to empower women entrepreneurs and to pave the way for a happy, balanced and prosperous India."
