NIRF University Rankings: DU moves up from 13th rank and Miranda House ranks 1st
The HRD Ministry released the 2020 NIRF rankings on Thursday, putting Miranda House at the top rank for the fourth consecutive year. Four other colleges - LSR, Hindu College, St. Stephen’s, and Hans Raj have also made it to the top 10 colleges as per NIRF.
Delhi University, which ranked 13th last year, moved up to the 11th position this year in the university rankings. It also showed Improvement in overall rankings by ranking 18th as opposed to last year.
A total of 29 colleges from Delhi University made it to the top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework. The overall NIRF rankings are based on the following parameters:
- Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR) which includes student strength, faculty-student ratio, faculty with PhD and experience, and financial resource utilization.
- Research and Professional Practice (RP) which includes publications, quality of publications, published and granted IPR and patents, and projects and professional practice.
- Graduation outcomes which include metric for university examinations and metric for the number of PhD students graduated
- Outreach and inclusivity which includes region diversity, women diversity, economically and socially challenged students, facilities for physically challenged students, and perception ranking.
- Peer perception which includes academic peers and employers
