The journey of Pritish Nath is filled with years of preparation and struggle against all odds. The 27-year-old worked through cold winter nights and hot summer days, as he isolated himself for four years before the break finally came when he cracked GATE and secured a job at ONGC.

The Beginning Of A Period Of Struggle

After graduating from a Tier C college, Pritish had no career goals as such. The only option that he had with his background was to prepare for various competitive examinations. Soon, however, a tragedy hit Pritish after his father died which changed his outlook on life.

It was a devastating experience for the 27-year-old but it did not deter him from trying, even though he lost all hopes for a successful career He admits that his father’s death and the vulnerability he felt with it brought him closer to his home and made him a more responsible person. He realized that now he had to do something for his family.

A Series Of Failures

While looking for a suitable job, Pritish went through a series of experiences that tested his patience in each and every moment. He gave 12 interviews with dedication and effort but failed to qualify in all of them.

I was lost again, four years passed and a common question asked in all my interviews was, ‘What were you doing from 2014 to 2018?’ I was clueless,” Pritish said.

During the course of his journey as an aspiring professional, Pritish got interviewed by many big names in the industry. He sat for interviews with organizations such as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), ONGC, and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), and NTPC. Success, however, was nowhere near, and what he calls one of the toughest stages of his life showed no signs of ending.

He even cleared the first two rounds of the UPSC CSE exam in 2018 but fell short in the final round by just 16 marks. All his efforts seem to go in vain and there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

The Fruits Of Dedication

Finally, his situation changed after he managed to land a contractual job as a site engineer in Rail Vikas Nigam Limited. The same year, he was selected as an assistant engineer in the State Electricity Board.

Even though it was a sigh of relief from the bad phase that Pritish was going through, he knew that it was hardly the moment to give up. He worked hard in spite of the job and prepared for the GATE exam, which he ultimately went on to clear.

Following his GATE success, Pritish was selected by ONGC to join the tech team. “I must say, it’s all because of the guidance I got from my parents. If my father were alive, he would have been very happy,” he said.

Today, the boy who lived in a mud house, who lost his father at a young age, and who faced failures one after the other in his path, is now a renowned engineer in ONGC! He also owns an apartment, and a car and also gifted himself an Apple computer.

A wonderful example of dedication and perseverance, Pritish is an inspiration for the youth, motivating them to stay on track despite facing failures.

What can be more inspiring than success stories like Pritish’s?
