Team Assyrians (IIM Kozhikode) Recounts How They Won The 2nd Runner-Up Title For Wipro B-Pro 2.0

Wipro B-Pro 2.0 was the case study competition/ hiring challenge conducted by the Indian multinational- Wipro Limited. The company is one of the leading entities in the IT technology, consulting, and services space. This challenge was an opportunity for all MBA students to showcase their skills and get noticed by the top recruiters. And we, the Team Assyrians from IIM Kozhikode decided that we could not let it pass by unattempted. The competition was open to MBA students passing out in 2023, and the three of us- Hari Hara Subramanian, Saransh Goel, and Aakriti Bahri were ecstatic at qualifying for it.

We buckled our seat belts and started on a journey in this prestigious competition, and are now taking you all on a ride through the exhilarating experience. Also, sharing a few tips on how we managed to win the 2nd runners-up title in the competition with 6300+ participants from some of the top B-Schools in India.

Take Time to Understand the Problem Statement

First things first! We made sure to understand the problem statement in depth before jumping to any inferences or conclusions regarding the study. We began by conducting in-depth industry research and then moved on to individual firm-level study, consumer research, etc. Our goal throughout the journey was to present our analysis and the solution we came up with, in the form of a story. One that focused on the issue at hand, addressed all the possible nuances of the situation, and most importantly would be something that the management could bring to action.

Think of & Consider all POVs

The overall format of the competition was seamless. The only way to get through the different rounds and come up with a quality solution was to delve deeper into the problem and look at things from various perspectives.

Each round of the competition tested various skill sets and required us to delve deeply into the issue, resulting in a steep learning curve. It provided us with the chance to put our theoretical MBA knowledge to use in solving current business difficulties.

Take Jury Feedback Seriously

The discussions and Q&A sessions with the jury were golden. The input we received from the esteemed jury during our presentation rounds helped us think deeper into our solutions from a leadership angle. This was something only seasoned professionals who were a part of the panel could inculcate in the process.

Presenting our solution and analysis to the Wipro leadership and gaining their feedback and suggestions was very special. It left us feeling grateful for this experience. The case as such and the jury's questions tested our critical thinking abilities and made us see the problem in a new light. The whole process made us realize that considering all possible angles is the only way to reach a fool-proof solution.

Leverage Your Strengths

We all loved working with each other. Each one of us had multiple ideas to contribute and working on these to reach the perfect solution was exhilarating, to say the least. We were all determined to put in our best efforts while ensuring to help each other out and making each of us understand the various nuances involved while solving the case provided. We leveraged each member's strengths in research & ideation, storytelling, presentations, and so on to bring out the best possible results. We also believe that it is important for anyone participating in such competitions to have a team with great synergy, just like ours.

In the end, we'd like to commend all the 7 teams that made it to the finale. They were all tough contenders who made the Wipro B-Pro 2.0 journey all the more memorable.
