1. Tell us something about yourself.

It may help to break the ice between the interviewer and the candidate, but the prime objective behind this question is to understand the candidate's background and get a glimpse of the work they have done before. 

Answering tip: Begin your response with a relaxed yet confident tone. Apart from introducing yourself and talking about your academic qualifications, you can highlight your significant achievements or skills in this answer, but in a precise manner. Another point to note here is that while you must have all the introductory points ready beforehand, your answer must not sound rehearsed.

Sample answer: My name is Rita, and I am 25 years old. I've been working as a business analyst at ABC Company for the last 5 years. I completed my graduation in Science from Xyz University and then went on to do my Master's in Business Analytics from Efg University. I was very passionate about working in this field. So I did a couple of internships to get hands-on industry experience in Business Analytics before I applied here. I believe I have an inherent aptitude for data management and analytics and eagerly look forward to making a career in this domain. Since my interest primarily lies in the healthcare industry, I feel your company would be the best platform for me to kickstart my career. 

2. How can you be an asset to the company? 

Why this question? The intention of this question is to know the skills or qualities that set you apart from others. Along with this, the interviewer wants to see how you can contribute to their short-term and long-term goals or help to overcome any issues that the company might be facing.

Answering tip: Keep the company's goals and values in mind and align your answer with these. Also, read through the job description carefully and include the skills that the company requires in your answer if possible. 

Sample answer: During my shopping experiences, I was always impressed by the outstanding customer service that your company offered. It greatly helped to build a positive image in my mind, thus making me a loyal customer of your brand. As a customer service manager, my goal is to maintain this tradition of excellence. I am a dedicated worker and greatly believe in fostering customer relationships as an essential aspect of my job. By being a part of your company, I hope to contribute to the company's growth by creating positive customer experiences while continuously honing my skills.

3. How do you handle work under pressure?

Why this question? At times, your job requires you to work under strict deadlines to deliver the projects timely. This may create a stressful environment. Thus, through this question, the interviewer wants to know about your capacity to work under such circumstances. 

Answering tip: You must come prepared with incidents wherein you handled stress well. Refrain from saying anything that would reflect poor stress management skills during work.

Sample answer: Although it's difficult to avoid work pressure, I believe that maintaining an organized schedule can be tremendously helpful. Personally, I prioritize staying calm and keeping a clear mind. When your mind is at ease, you're better equipped to find solutions to stressful situations. I also think that if you enjoy your work, pressure doesn't tend to affect you as much. So those who don't find joy in their work are often the most affected by pressure.

4. What are some of your strengths and weaknesses?

Why this question? The interviewer wants to know how well you understand yourself. While talking about your strengths may not be a big deal, speaking about your weaknesses might be tricky and this is where the interviewer gets to assess your articulation skills and your confidence. 

Answering tip: While answering this question, it is important, to be honest, and precise. Giving real-life examples can help to bring out your point better. Also, avoid stating weaknesses that hamper your chances of getting hired. 

Sample answer: I believe one of my key strengths is effective communication. This helped me to take on leadership roles during graduation. Also, I am a fast learner who seeks out information to improve my understanding. I always strive to be a positive influence on those around me and spread joy wherever I can.

As for my weaknesses, I tend to be a perfectionist and fixate on details, which can sometimes distract me from the bigger picture. So, feedback is essential for me, and without it, I can struggle to stay on track and may not achieve my desired results.

5. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Why this question? This question is intended to understand your goals and ambitions. The interviewer also wants to know how long you would be willing to work for the company. You need confidence and clarity to answer this question well. 

Answering tip: Keep a clear long-term career strategy to be shared during the interview.  

Sample answer: Over the next five years, I am eager to challenge myself and push my limits. I plan to set realistic goals for myself and the company, and I am committed to working hard towards achieving them. I am confident that these next five years will be mutually beneficial for me and my company.

6. Why did you decide to leave your current job?

Why this question? The interviewer wants to understand the circumstances that led you to leave your current job. This also gives the interviewer an idea about your expectations as an employee.

Answering tip: Refrain from including any negative points about your current employer while answering this question.  

Sample answer: At this point in time, I am ready to take on more responsibilities in my career. It will help me in upgrading my skills through newer challenges. Also, this opportunity seems like a career-advancing step for me. 

7. Define success. 

Why this question? This question helps to understand your work ethic and motive in life. Your interviewer is also trying to ascertain if your definition of success aligns with the company's objectives or not. 

Answering tip: The safest approach is to talk about meeting personal and professional objectives and stating relevant examples.

Sample answer: Success for me is to put 100% into whatever I do. So when it comes to working, I want to be as productive as possible. On the other hand, in my personal life, I want to manage my relationships well to the best of my abilities and lead a healthy life. 

8. Are you a team player or like to work at an individual level?

Why this question? Teamwork is important in almost all organizations. Hence, through this question, the interviewer wants to know if you are someone who likes to collaborate with other employees within the company and work effectively in such a set up. 

Answering tip: Try to make the interviewer believe that you work well in teams through appropriate real-life examples. 

Sample answer: Collaboration is commonly the key to innovation and success, and I’m perfectly comfortable working in a team. In my last company, I was a part of the marketing team where we often had campaigns that we had to deliver within tight deadlines. Our team always pulled off the best work since we were well-coordinated and even motivated each other from time to time. 

9. What are your hobbies?

Why this question? The interviewer wants to know what you do outside of your professional work. This helps them understand your personality better. 

Answering tip: Try to state hobbies that require skills that you would need at your job too. 

Sample Answer: I love to solve puzzles, Ribik's cubes, Su-do-ku puzzles, etc. during my free time. In fact, my aptitude for solving puzzles made me interested in coding and computer science engineering. So, whenever I have time, or when I am traveling, I prefer to spend my time-solving puzzles and challenging my abilities and problem-solving skills. 

10. Do you have any questions for us? 

Why this question? Interviewers prefer candidates who are curious to know about the company. Thus, this is a straightforward Accenture HR interview question wherein you can take up any doubts or queries you may have regarding the company or the role being offered. 

Answering tips: Try to ask open-ended questions from the interviewer, which give you an opportunity to learn more about the company. However, you must know where to draw a line. You must understand the cue if the interviewer wants to wind up quickly.
